Cutting device for box trees and other plants

The motor-driven cutting device is displaceably guided on a guide rail (16) which corresponds to the generatrix of the rotationally symmetrical shape and which can rotate relative to the tree. A drive pulley couples the movement of the cutting unit along the guide rail with the rotation of the guide rail relative to the tree. The drive pulley has a cable roller (88) rotatable with the rotary drive and a draw cable (90) fixed on the cable roller and guided through guide pulley devices (92,94) to the guide rail (16) and along same to the cutting unit (22). The guide rail can be rotatably suspended from a gallows (78) engaging over the tree.
