In a rail wheel with a wheel disc (1) made of plastic and a wheel tyre (2) made of metal, the latter are connected to one another by means of a metallic intermediate ring (3) onto which the wheel tyre (2) is shrink fitted. At the same time, the wheel disc (1) has on its circumference a conical cross-sectional profile and the intermediate ring (3) which is positively connected thereto is divided axially into two sub-rings (3.1, 3.2) with a correspondingly partially cone-shaped inner face, the said sub-rings (3.1, 3.2) being connected to one another in a frictionally engaging fashion and being bonded to the wheel disc (1). As a result, the connection of the intermediate ring (3) to the wheel disc (1) is doubly secured. <IMAGE>
