The fiber includes, uniformly dispersed within the fiber, and an inorganic particulate additive comprising 30-90 wt.% of titanium oxide, 5-50 wt.% of zinc oxide and 1-20 wt.% of aluminium oxide. Pref. the fiber comprises 1-10 (esp. 2-5) wt.% of the inorganic additive . The additive comprises 60-80 wt.% of titanium oxide, 10-30 wt.% of zinc oxide and 5-15 wt.% of aluminium oxide. The additive has a mean particle size of 0.1-5 mu. The particulate surfaces of the additive are hydrophobitised by coating the surfaces with a finishing agent. The fiber is used for making fabrics for casual wear, T-shirts, blouses, umbrellas, parasols, outdoor sportswear, summer curtains etc.. |
