The invention relates to a device for the direct additive treatment of liquid fuels with solids, which are soluble in the fuel, and a corresponding method. For the additive treatment of fuels with solids directly in the feedline to the combustion chamber or to the engine, a device of the said type is proposed which is characterised by a hollow body, at least partially filled with the solid, the longitudinal axis of which body is situated at an angle alpha of 130 to 170 DEG to the flowing fuel and the lower end of which, around which the flowing fuel washes, has at least one opening through which fuel can enter and escape from the hollow body.
