The invention relates to a device for coupling ladders together in particular for a step-ladder. This device comprises at least one lateral arm element (7) hinged to one (3) of the ladders which make up the step-ladder (1) and able to engage with and grip the second ladder (3') via its front part (27) when the ladder is deployed in the open position, and a hinge element (5) for hinging the step-ladder at the top, the lateral arm element (7) stemming from a single rod which is suitably bent at the front in the form of a loop-shaped front bend (29) which forms a stop element for the front face of one of the uprights (11') of the second ladder (3'), and comes back over the outside of the upright to then bend again at right angles and form a second stop element (31) for the rear face of the upright. <IMAGE>
