Method of determining leaks in a pipeline carrying gas or liquid

It is known to utilise data logging or analysis by means of classifying memories known from statistics in order to determine the presence of leaks. Here, digitalised individual measurements of variable measuring quantities are allocated to certain quantity classes. For the analysis, however, this known method requires a considerable computational input, which can only be implemented with computer programs which are expensive to design. By means of the invention, a method is to be provided which enables leaks to be determined quickly and in an energy-saving manner by means of the simplest computer programs. To this end, provision is made for a digitalised signal to be stored in a single memory in each case, the signals which correspond to a predetermined number of the lowest of all measured values being allocated to the single memories. By means of the invention, any leaks can be inferred directly from the stored values, which is possible with a very small computational input.
