PURPOSE:To reduce in size and weight an electric pulsation apparatus for a ship and to provide redundancy. CONSTITUTION:An electric propulsion apparatus for driving a propeller of a ship by a motor comprises a polyphase AC motor 15 having insulated two- circuit windings in respective phases, an AC generator 11 for outputting three- phase AC of the insulated two circuits, and two-phase cycloconverters 16-1, 16-2 for driving the windings of the motor with three-phase AC as power in the respective circuits of the generator. The motor is normally driven by the two sets of the cycloconverters, and when either one cycloconverter is abnormal, the motor is driven only by the other cycloconverter. |
