Management of circuit-breakers in electric distribution network

The circuit breaker management system has circuits to determine the physical values that characterise each circuit breaker and to send a signal representative of these. In particular the gas pressure in gas-filled circuit breaker is monitored. These signals are processed (14) to generate fuzzy variables characteristic of the state of the circuit breaker.An expert system operating with fuzzy logic, makes use of a fuzzy logic rule base and an inference engine to process the fuzzy variables to estimate the significance of any drop in pressure and to deduce which breakers should be used to establish a new configuration for the network.
