PURPOSE:To improve the open-circuit voltage by defining the area which a plurality of p<+>-type regions occupy on the rear face of a substrate and thereby providing a plurality of LBSF regions in a favorable ratio to the rear face of the silicon substrate. CONSTITUTION:A silicon solar cell consists of n<+> layer 2 which is formed on the front face of a p-type silicon crystal substrate 1 having a flat surface; front face electrodes 3 which are formed thereon; a plurality of p<+> regions 5b which are dispersively formed the rear face of the substrate 1; insulating layer 6 which is formed on the rear face of the substrate 1; and rear face electrode 7 which is connected with the p<+> regions 5b through openings formed in the insulating layer 6. The ratio of the area which a plurality of the p<+> regions 5b occupy on the rear face of the substrate 1 is limited to a value from 1% inclusive to 9% exclusive. Providing a ratio of the LBSF area from 1% inclusive to 9% exclusive, as mentioned above, obtains a silicon solar cell with an improved open-circuit voltage. |
