PURPOSE:To reduce the variation in the outer diameter of the coating resin layer of the optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber preform 11 is melt-spun in a spinning furnace 1 and drawn into an uncoated optical fiber 13 which is passed through a coating resin coater 8 contg. a coating resin soln., hence the uncoated optical fiber is coated with a coating resin layer, and the optical fiber for the optical fiber coil is produced. In this case, the drawing rate of the uncoated optical fiber 13 is fixed so that the variation in the outer diameter of the uncoated optical fiber 13 is controlled in the allowable range. Consequently, the optical fiber is coiled orderly and closely, and the optical fiber is smoothly drawn out of the optical fiber coil. |
