1,116,453. Feeding endless conveyers. GREENSIDE MACHINE CO. Ltd. 28 Oct., 1966 [10 Nov., 1965], No. 47607/65. Heading B8A. A loader-conveyer machine comprises a forwardly disposed ramp 2 the lower front edge of which rests on a floor, and an endless chain 14 at each side of the ramp and bearing outwardly projecting flights 19, 20. Each chain is guided at 22, 23, to form a front run along which the chain moves towards the centre of the ramp and an elevating run along which the chain moves up the ramp. As the chains are driven by reversible hydraulic motors 31, material at the front edge of the ramp is moved by the flights 19, 20 to the centre portion 2A thereof and then up the ramp on to a discharge scraper conveyer 3. Pivoted gathering arms 44 at the edges of the ramp are hydraulically oscillated to feed material to passing flights on the chains. The pitches of the flights on the two chains are relatively staggered as they move along the elevating run. The ramp is mounted on beams 37 for pivotal movement by hydraulic ram means between a lowered position in which the ramp front edge engages the floor and an upper position wherein said edge is spaced from the floor. A screw-operated chain tensioning device 33 is associated with each chain guide 23. A shield 11 is provided along the rear edge of each side of the ramp. The outer portions of the ramp are pivoted at 9 to facilitate folding upwardly of the portions after removal of the chains. |
