<p>PURPOSE:To minimize the loss of metal in molten copper at the time of removing dross in melting copper and to efficiently remove the dross. CONSTITUTION:The copper contg. >=10ppm Fe as the impurity element is melted in an oxidizing atmosphere to obtain molten copper contg. >=1000ppm O2, an SiO2-Al2O3-based flux is sprinkled over the dross floating on the molten copper surface and agitated to deposit the dross on the flux, and hence a part of the dross is converted to the stable solid oxides which are discharged outside the furnace from the surface. Besides, a flux consisting essentially of 70-90% SiO2 and 30-10% Al2O3 is used, and 0.005-0.10wt.% of the flux based on the molten copper can be further added to the molten copper.</p> |
