PURPOSE:To decrease the quantity of the space propagating light condensed by using a lens is made incident on a clad layer and to stabilize optical communication by convergently molding a clad layer and allowing only the core to remain, thereby forming the front end of the fiber. CONSTITUTION:The front end of the optical fiber 3, the end face at the front end of the core 1 of which is the plane orthogonal with an optical transmission line is so constituted that the clad layer 2 is convergently molded and only the core 1 remains. Then, only the core 1 exists at the end face facing a semiconductor light emitting device. Since the semiconductor light emitting device and the clad layer 2 are isolated, the probability that the space propagating light generated by the semiconductor light emitting device is made incident on the clad layer 2 decreases and the fluctuating components of the intensity of the propagating light by bending, etc., of the optical fiber 3 are drastically decreased. The probability that the light propagating in the clad layer 2 propagates in the core 1 at a light receiving end is decreased by forming the exit end face to the same shape. |
