At least one connecting area of the connector has the cross-sectional profile of the rolled steel section whereby its flange (12, 14, 16) are recessed inwards in steps at the outer end for insertion into at least one pocket of the steel section which is to be fixed. On the outside of at least one of the recessed flanges there is at least one projecting cam (48, 50) which is preferably slightly inclined towards the end of the connecting areas. ADVANTAGE - The steel sections can be readily pushed onto the connecting areas for an accurate play-free fit which is reinforced by welding.
