PURPOSE:To improve chemical resistance, water resistance, heat resistance and abrasion resistance and to enhance storage stability by forming a thermal color forming layer using a leuco dye having a specific structure, a developer and a binder soluble in a hydrocarbon solvent as main components. CONSTITUTION:A binder is dissolved in an aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon solvent and a leuco dye represented by formula I (wherein R is a group selected from groups represented by formulae IV, V, VI, VII) and at least either one of developers represented by formulae II, III (wherein X is either one of groups represented by formulae VIII, IX or -SO2-and Y is hydrogen, an alkyl group or a benzyl group) are dispersed in the binder solution and applied to a substrate to be dried. The thermal recording medium thus obtained can be enhanced in chemical resistance, water resistance and heat resistance. |
