PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of deficiency in torque capacity of the clutch and the brake of an automatic transmission even when a device to temporarily release operation of an exhaust brake device causes failure, in a device designed to temporarily release operation of the exhaust brake device during the down shift of an engine brake state. CONSTITUTION:When a device to temporarily release operation of an exhaust brake device causes failure, the shift line of an automatic transmission is switched to the low car speed side. This constitution prevents the occurrence of deficiency in torque capacity of the clutch, the brake, etc., of the automatic transmission and prevents lowering of durability even in a state where necessary torque capacity during a shift is decreased and the reverse drive force of an engine the exhaust brake of which is operated is high. |
