THERAPY AND SOLUTION FOR TREATING DRY EYE

PURPOSE: To obtain an artificial tear film capable of wetting the surface of eye and contact lens, mechanically smoothening the surface and preventing a fluid from being evaporated from ocular surface by including an aqueous layer covered by oil membrane such as hydrocarbon. CONSTITUTION: This artificial tear film comprises an aqueous layer covered by an oil membrane comprising a nonpolar oil, especially hydrocarbon, especially comprising complex phospholipid (especially phosphatiazylglycerol) having an effective charge between the aqueous layer and the oil membrane. The volume of the oil forming the oil layer is preferably not over about 25μl, especially about 1 to about 10μl. The mixture thereof is instilled in a form of metastable emulsion. The composition is capable of enhancing and maintaining the stable tear film on the ocular surface and providing a medicine to the ocular surface without causing a state being out of focus.
