<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a method and a device for judging the quality of the strip welded portion of a continuous type mill whereby the quality of the welding portion can be automatically judged through an actual tension test. CONSTITUTION:Tension is given to the front and rear portions of a welded portion 11 and actual tension alone or both actual tension and displacement of the welding portion 11 are measured and the relational expression between actual tension and time or between actual tension and displacement is found and compared with a preset reference pattern between tension and time or displacement, and the welding condition of the welded portion is judged in on-line fashion. Since welding failure is judged in a short time and then rewelding is performed, the possibility of the welded portion being ruptured during subsequent processes can be eliminated and trouble with operation such as stopping of the line for a long time due to the rupture can surely be prevented.</p> |
