Arrangement for the releasable attachment of an exchangeable number of plate to a vehicle in which the number plate (28) is fitted in a holder (21) having a frame (22) and a base plate (23). A plastic carrier (1) is fitted to the vehicle with a rigid upper extension (3) and a springy lower extension (4) both of which have engagement noses (5 6) which slot from behind into specially provided openings in the base plate. ADVANTAGE - Number plate which is securely held on a vehicle such that it cannot accidently be dislodged but which is easily removed when necessary.
