<p>PURPOSE:To avoid system down due to a defect of cartridge loading and to obtain a magnetic tape device of high reliability by settling the driving gear engagement detecting method. CONSTITUTION:A control circuit supplies a driving current to a reel driving motor 24 to monitor the tacho pulse of an encoder 25. When it cannot be confirmed, it is judged that a clutch 11 is not rotated, and the driving current is successively increased. If the tacho pulse is not generated though the driving current exceeds a limit current, driving is stopped, and a cartridge 1 is loaded again. If the same result is obtained even after this operation is executed for a prescribed number of times, trouble other than driving gear engagement is decided. When the tacho pulse can be confirmed, a command is issued to a motor driving circuit 29 to drive a threading motor, and a pantoarm is driven to thread a magnetic tape 2. Thus, system down due to a defect of driving gear engagement is avoided to obtain a magnetic tape device of high reliability.</p> |
