<p>PURPOSE:To reduce a substantial abort rate of a cell by providing an idle busy identification bit to a header of the cell and allowing each 2X2 unit switch to decide the connection state of the switch itself based on the destination address stored in the header of the cell and the idle busy identification bit adjacent to the address. CONSTITUTION:A cell consists of a header H of a fixed length and an information field D of a fixed length, and the header H consists of a 1-bit of idle busy identification bit I. Even when cells having valid information and a same destination address are inputted to each 2X2 unit switch 18 simultaneously and collision of cells takes place, the idle busy identification bit I of a defeated cell is rewritten to '0' so as to represent absence of valid information. Thus, even when the defeated cell is sent in a direction different from a prescribed path, since the cell is processed as a cell not provided with valid information in a succeeding unit cell, the defeat rate of the cell having valid information is less and the transmission of erroneous information is avoided.</p> |
