PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for a 1/2-wavelength plate and to easily obtain differential detecting constitution by fixing a polarized beam splitter to make reflected light exit at an inclination of 45 degrees to linear polarized light of a semiconductor laser. CONSTITUTION:The device is provided with an optical block 11 mounted with all constitutive elements such as a magneto-optical recording medium 5, the semiconductor laser 1, a collimator lens 2, an objective lens 4, a half mirror 3, the polarized beam splitter 7 and information detecting means 10 and 14. Then, the polarized beam splitter 7 is fixed to make the reflected light exit at an inclination of 45 degrees to the linear polarized light of the semiconductor laser 1 with a center of an optical axis of an incident light beam. By this method, the need of the 1/2-wavelength plate is eliminated, and the differential detecting constitution is easily obtained. |
