Process for the preparation of aqueous dispersions of ionic polyurethane-ureas

A method is disclosed for the preparation of new stable aqueous dispersions of ionic polyurethane-polyureas from A) aqueous dispersions of ionic pre-polymers ending in isocyanate and B) hydrocarbon polyamine extenders. The essential aspect of this invention lies in the use of a mixture of a diol and triol in the step of forming the pre-polymer. Coated films and substrates obtained by using the said dispersions as coatings are also disclosed. The films are useful in the manufacture of waterproof clothing, oil cloth, clothing with is resistant to tearing in motor vehicle applications and the like.
