PURPOSE:To improve recording and erasing characteristics by using a thermoplastic resin, an elastic modulus of which at room temperature and a glass transition temperature of which are specified, as a holding layer. CONSTITUTION:An optical recording medium is constituted by supporting and laminating an expansion layer A composed of a resin P1 displaying rubber elasticity at least room temperature and a dyestuff and a holding layer B consisting of a resin P2 and a dyestuff onto a substrate. A thermoplastic resin, an elastic modulus of which at room temperature is brought to 10kg/mm<2> or more and a glass transition temperature Tg of which is brought to 60-150 deg.C, is used as the resin P2 of the holding layer B. A bump is formed because such a resin P2 is expanded together with the resin P1 by thermal expansion on recording, the bump can be fixed in a cooling process, and the fixing of the bump can be released on erasing, thus efficiently conducting recording and the erasing of recording stably. |
