The invention concerns a connection piece or adapter for connection of a connection line with a standard size to hearths that have an upward directed flue opening on the top with a diameter less than the connection line. By means of the connection piece according to Figures 3 or 4 a connection of normal tightness to connection lines 2 or 7 is created even if the flue opening's connection line or flange is significantly smaller than the diameter in connection lines 2 or 7, as shown in Figures 1, 6, 7 and 8. <IMAGE>
