A cylinder arrangement comprises a cylinder with adjustable bend (1) and a counter cylinder (7) between which an endless web of material (8) passes. To prevent increased pressure on the edges (17) of the web, additional spreading elements (6) which act perpendicular to the pressure plane (E) deform the cylinder casing (3) elliptically. This leads to a reduction in the force exerted by the hydraulic supporting elements (5) acting in the pressure plane (E). A control device, for example separating walls (25, 26) which can be displaced synchronously in the axial direction by means of spindles (29, 30), ensures that if the working width is adjusted only the necessary supporting elements (5) and only the spreading elements (6) located outside the working width contain hydraulic fluid. |
