PURPOSE:To reduce a failure in photographing due to the defocusing of a subject by controlling the position of a lens according to the measurement results of the distance to a subject at the center part in a photographic picture frame and the distance to a subject at the peripheral part. CONSTITUTION:This camera is equipped with a 1st distance measuring means 1 which measures the distance to the subject at the center part of the photographic picture frame and a 2nd distance measuring means 2 which measures the distance to the subject at the peripheral part. The position of the photographic lens is calculated from the measurement results of the 1st and 2nd distance measuring means and the position of the photographic lens is adjusted according to the output. Namely, when the distance to a subject at a position closer than the short-distance limit of the focusing ability of the photographic lens of the camera is measured, it is judged that this subject is not a main subject and the photographic lens is put in focus on the subject measured at the distance measurement point at the center part of the photographic picture frame. Consequently, a failure in photographing due to the defocusing of the main subject is reduced. |
