MERCERIZATION OF ROVING

摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain a mercerized roving having high bulkiness and excellent heat insulation and dyeability by winding a roving of a cellulosic fiber in the form of a cheese at a specific winding density after roving step and subjecting the fiber to alkali thinning treatment under specific condition. CONSTITUTION:A roving of a cellulosic fiber is wound after the roving step to form a cheese at a winding density of 0.1 to 0.5g/cm<3>. The cheese is mercerized by treating with a solution of sodium hydroxide having high temperature and low concentration (e.g. 1 to 5% owf and 80 to 90 deg.C) and then with a solution of sodium hydroxide having low temperature and high concentration (e.g. 18 to 30% owf and 40 to 60 deg.C). The mercerized fiber is washed with water and neutralized to obtain an excellent material giving an extremely bulky feeling and having excellent heat insulation and dyeability.
