PURPOSE:To reduce a load on a software at the time of performing the edition of a document of variable pitch by segmenting and outputting an arbitrary range of pattern in a dot pattern by one character. CONSTITUTION:Character code information and segmenting position information supplied from the outside are sent to a control part 4. The segmenting position information is data to instruct a segmenting start position (x,y) of unit size and longitudinal and lateral length (l) and (m) as shown in figure. The control part 4 controls a character patter readout part 2 by the character code information, and reads out the dot pattern corresponding to a designated character code from a character pattern storage memory 1. Also, it controls a pattern segmenting part 3, and segments only the dot pattern in a range designated by the segmenting position information from a readout dot pattern, and outputs it as an output dot pattern by controlling the pattern segmenting part 3. In such a manner, it is possible to reduce the load on the software for document edition, and to shorten processing time. |
