PURPOSE:To provide a remedy for AIDS, composed of a component extracted from cultured mycelia of basidiomycete, effective in suppressing the proliferation of AIDS virus and normalizing the immunological mechanism, safe to human body and free from side effect. CONSTITUTION:A basidiomycete, preferably Lentinus edodes is cultured in a medium containing a raw material prepared from a gramineous plant. The cultured product is subjected to autodigestion and then extracted with hot water to obtain a suspension containing active component. The suspension is subjected to pressing, filtration and removal of foreign materials to obtain an extracted liquid. If necessary, the liquid is concentrated with an ultrafiltration membrane, evaporator, etc., and dried by freeze drying, etc., to obtain a powder. The dried powder is added with 10 times volume of water, the suspension is adjusted to about pH7.2 and an alcohol is added to the suspension to obtain a precipitate. A fraction soluble at an alcohol concentration of 37.5% and insoluble at an alcohol concentration of 50% is preferably collected as the precipitate. |
