<p>This invention relates to a video display device in which the image area of the screen is divided into multiple sectors in the vertical direction and an electron beam is vertically deflected at each of these sectors to display multiple image lines, and particularly to a construction of cathode wires (11) suspended horizontally in order to generate an electron beam at each sector. In this invention, distance between the wire cathodes (11) and back electrode (15) and also between the wire cathodes (11) and the control electrode (13) are held constant by providing insulated members (17a, 17b) under the wire cathodes (11).</p>
