PURPOSE:To obtain the planar sintered body of an inorg. material having excellent strength, thermal impact resistance, etc., by adding water to an inorg. material contg. a prescribed ratios of planar, acicular or columnar inorg. materials of specific sizes, kneading the materials, extruding the mixture to a cylindrical shape, cutting the cylinder to open and rolling the plate in the extrusion direction, then sintering the plate. CONSTITUTION:The inorg. material contg. at least one kind of the inorg. materials selected from the planar inorg. materials of >=5 aspect ratio (e.g.: cordierite) and the acicular or columnar inorg. materials of >=3 ratio (L/D) of the length and diameter (e.g: alumina fibers) at 30 to 90wt.% of the total inorg. material is prepd. The water is then added to this inorg. material and after the material is kneaded, the mixture is extruded by an extruder to a cylindrical shape. This cylinder is cut to open and the plate thus formed is rolled in the extrusion direction. The plate is then sintered at 800 to 1200 deg.C, by which the planar, acicular and columnar inorg. materials are oriented in the specified direction parallel with the plane and the planar sintered body of the inorg. material adequate for refractory materials, etc., is obtd. |
