A process for obtaining a stabilised erythrocyte prepn. comprises treating a suspension of washed erythrocytes in a neutral buffered soln. with 1.5-5.0% by vol. of pyruvic aldehyde, relative to the erythrocyte volume, for 12-24 hrs. at room temp., washing the treated suspension with buffer soln. to remove excess aldehyde, treating the resulting suspension with 1.5-5.0% by vol. of HCHO for 12-24 hrs., and again washing with buffer soln. to remove excess aldehyde. |
