A heat-sensitive device measures the temperature of the exhaust air at an outlet of a drying space. A second heat sensitive device measures the temperature of the exhaust air after having been subjected to the heat exchange with external air. A memory stores the difference between the measured temperatures at a predetermined time after the starting time of drying operation. A controller terminates the heat drying operation when the relation between the reference value and the temperature difference comes to a predetermined relation which is variable depending on the quantity and kind of loading.
