The strip described of a thermoplastic material, which can be wound helically to form a cylindrical hollow body, has edge regions which are facing one another in the wound state and engage two bead-like projections in the wound state. The strip is formed in such a way that surfaces facing one another which form the recesses, and strip surfaces on the wound hollow body facing one another in the wound state, enclose a chamber. Furthermore, a description is given of a method according to which this strip is wound up to form a hollow body, the associated projections and recesses are brought into engagement and the chamber produced is filled with a hot plastic. The plastic used for this is essentially the same as the plastic of which the strip consists. As a result, the neighbouring edge regions of the strip are welded to one another.
