PURPOSE: To provide a vehicular headlamp having a collection of light that is suitable to obtain a desired light distribution by composing a reflecting mirror with a plurality of reflecting surfaces wherein first focuses of the reflecting surfaces are positioned in common with each other and a second focus or a second focus area in which reflected light is focused are positioned so as to share their positions with each other when light emitted from a light source arranged in the first focuses is reflected by the reflecting surfaces. CONSTITUTION: Light emitted from a light source 4 and reflected by a reflecting mirror 2 exists as a collection of light in a zonal area extending in a horizontal direction on a plane normal to an optical axis x-x at a position of a light-shielding plate 5. The length of a horizontal side of the collection of light which is composed of reflected light from a lower reflecting surface 3b is longer than the length of a horizontal side of the collection of light which is composed of reflected light from an upper reflecting surface 3a, and the lower side of the collection of light is cut off by the light-shielding body 5 so as not to proceed forward. A modified collection of light whose lower edge is limited by a light-shielding circumferential line 5a of the light-shielding body 5 is projected forward as an inverted image by a projection lens 6 to form a light distribution 7. In this way, a central part of the light distribution 7a having a high luminous intensity is formed by the upper reflecting surface 3a and expanded diffuse regions in the left and right sides of the light distribution 7b are formed by the lower reflecting surface 3b, respectively. Through this process, a collection of light that can generate a desired light distribution can be obtained. |
