Title compds. (I)[R1=halo, OH, -COOH, alkyl, etc.; R2=C1-4 alkyl; R3=H, halo, OH, amino, C1-4 alkyl, alkoxy; m=0,1; n=1,2,3!, useful as curing agent for cardic insufficiency, were prepd.. Thus, a mixt. contg. 2.5g 2,4-dimethoxybenzoic acid, 1.5g 3,4diaminopyridine and 50ml phosphorus oxychloride was refluxed, adjusted to pH 7.0 with NH4OH, and washed with H2O and ethanol to give 2-(2,4- dimethoxyphenyl)-1H-imidazo[4,5-C pyridine.
