<p>PURPOSE:To improve both speed-change characteristics by making the rotating speed of a driven shaft at the time of engaging a starting clutch higher than the rotating speed of the driven shaft at the time of starting speed change with the low rotation speed-change characteristic of a driving V-pulley while lower than the rotating speed of the driven shaft at the time of starting speed change with the high rotation speed-change characteristic of the driving V-pulley. CONSTITUTION:When switched over to a low rotation speed-change characteristic, speed change is started before a starting clutch 43 is engaged and a reduction ratio at the time of engaging is lowered reducing engine speed for that amount. That is, more gentle acceleration and lower fuel consumption can be obtained. With a high rotation speed-change characteristic, the starting clutch 43 is engaged before the speed change is started and engine speed is high. Hence, a rapid acceleration can be obtained. And, since the engaging rotating speed is generally high with this centrifugal shoe type starting clutch, one having a small capacity such as of a trailing type can be used. That is, characteristics in both economy range and power range can be improved by the speed-change characteristic switching gear.</p> |
