PURPOSE:To improve high-temp. durability and sealing the titled element with an epoxy resin having a specific temp. or above of the glass transition temp. after curing. CONSTITUTION:An ECD (EC element) is constituted of the laminated structure consisting of a lower electrode layer A, a reversible electrolytic oxidation layer or oxidation colorable EC layer B, an ion conductive layer C, a reducing colorable EC layer D and an upper electrode layer E. This ECD is formed on a substrate S. After a sealing resin R for the upper electrode layer E is coated, the element is sealed by a sealing substrate G, for example, glass plate. The epoxy resin which is a kind of thermosetting resins is used as the sealing resin in this case and the epoxy resin having >=90 deg.C glass transition temp. after curing is used. The high-temp. durability is thereby improved.
