PURPOSE:To decrease the noises of a medium and to improve the coercive force and squareness ratio thereof by alternately laminating magnetoplumbite type oxide magnetic materials and spinel type oxide magnetic materials at prescribed periods. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic layer on a substrate is formed by alternately laminating plural layers of the magnetoplumbite type oxide magnetic materials (A) consisting of MeO.6Fe2O3 (where Me includes >=1 kinds among Ba, Sr and Pb) and the spinel type oxide magnetic materials (B) at <=500Angstrom periods. This magnetic layer is obtd. by using an apparatus equipped with electrodes 1, 2 for a component A target, electrodes 3, 4 for a component B target and a rotatable substrate holder 5 and the targets for both the components A and B consisting of sintered bodies having desired compsn., and forming the films while maintaining the substrates respectively at prescribed temps.
