PURPOSE:To produce an olefin (co)polymer having narrow distributions of the molecular weight and the composition, and a large bulk specific gravity and excellent in powder property, by (co)polymerizing an olefin in the presence of a specific catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst (b) is obtained by blending a solid catalyst component (i) which consists of a compound of a transition metal of the Group IV B of the periodic table on a carrier in an amount of 0.5-500mg atoms for 100g of the carrier, which carrier is finely divided particles having a particle diameter of 5-200mum which have been calcined at 150-1,000 deg.C, and may be an inorganic carrier comprising preferably SiO2 and/or Al2O3 as a main ingredient or an organic carrier (e.g., PE having a weight-average molecular weight of 1,000-10,000,000), an aluminoxane (ii) of formula I-II (wherein R is a hydrocarbon group, for example CH3 or C2H5; and m is 2 or more) in an amount of 5-50,000mg atoms per 100g of said carrier in terms of Al, and 5-80%, for a total of Al of the components (ii) or (iii), an organoaluminum compound (iii) of formula III or IV (wherein R<1-3> are each a hydrocarbon group; R<4> is R<1>, alkoxy, or aryloxy; 0<m, n<3). One or more olefins (a) are (co)polymerized in the presence of the component (b).
