PURPOSE:To prevent the collision of transmission data between terminals connected in a multi-drop form from being generated, by controlling the transmission right of a terminal connected in the multi-drop form with an IEEE 802.5 token ring LAN. CONSTITUTION:When the terminal 31 transmits data, the terminal 31 captures the free token 7 of a token ring LAN5 first. Next, the terminal 31 sends the data after confirming the fact that no carrier exists on a line 41. In such a case, the terminals 32, 33, and 3N detect data 8, and stop the stepping of a repeat return timer, a token holding timer, a PDU queue timer, an effective delivery timer, a non-token timer, an in-operation monitoring station timer, and a wait monitoring station timer until no data 8 exists on the line 41 any more. In such a way, no data is transmitted simultaneously from the terminals, thereby, the collision of the data can be prevented from being generated.
