PURPOSE:To copy the pictures of respective pages into copy papers with inverting them and to attain continuous copy irrespective of the mounted direction of an original by discriminating the lengthwise direction of the original, and extracting an electric signal at every range in which the length in the lengthwise direction is divided into plurality. CONSTITUTION:Then photoelectric sensors S1-S6 and S10-S19 of light-projection reception type are disposed at regular intervals in the outside of respective sides which are orthogonal to a contact glass 5 along a main scan direction L and an auxiliary scan direction F with one angle of the contact glass 5 as a reference. Thus, the presence and absence of an the original 99 is detected, and respective detection outputs are given to a main control part (not illustrated). If the original 99 is mounted as a figure (C), the sensors S1-S4 and S10-S15 generate detection force. If it is assumed to be d=500mm, the length (a) of the auxiliary scan direction F=300mm and the length (b) of the main scan direction L=200 are obtained. If the original is mounted as a figure (D), the length of the auxiliary scan direction=150mm and the length (b) of the main scan direction=300mm are obtained, and the lengthwise direction is discriminated. |
