摘要 PURPOSE:To control the rising direction near the rising voltage of liquid crystal molecules in a specified direction and to obviate generation of scattering domains by specifying the angle between the optical axis direction of the liquid crystal molecules in contact with the plane of an oriented film and the plane of a substrate to 2-4 deg.. CONSTITUTION:The oriented film for arranging the liquid crystal molecules is so formed that the angle theta between the optical axis direction of the liquid crystal molecules in contact with the plane of the oriented film and the plane of the substrate attains 4 deg.>=theta>=0.04phi-5 with respect to twist angle phi of the liquid crystal molecules to constitute a titled liquid crystal display device having 170-230 deg. twist angle of the liquid crystal molecules. Generation of the scattering domains is thereby permitted in the case of 170-230 deg. twist angle of the liquid crystal molecules and the liquid crystal display device having a high-quality display characteristic is obtd.
