PURPOSE:To enhance the sensitivity of a photosensitive material and to stabilize potential characteristics during repeated uses by incorporating an azo pigment having a specified organic residue. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive layer contains the photosensitive azo pigment having a structure formed by combining an organic residue of formula I optionally through a bonding group with an optionally substituted aromatic hydrocarbon or hetero ring (Ar), and one of said preferable pigments is represented by formula II, and in formula I, each of R1 and R2 is H or optionally substituted alkyl or the like, and n is 1-4. It is preferred to form the photosensitive layer composed of at least 3 layers of a conductive substrate, an electric charge generating layer containing said azo pigment, and a charge transfer layer thus permitting the obtained photosensitive body to be improved in one or both of carrier generating efficiency and carrier transfer efficiency, and excellent in sensitivity and potential stability during long successive uses. |
