The head 1, which can move along X, Y and Z in relation to the series of points to be painted of a surface, includes a plurality of nozzles 16, corresponding to the various colours used for obtaining a multi-colour pictorial image, and the colouring-material spray axes of which converge onto an apex O of a cone which successively coincides with the various points to be painted. The colouring material is sprayed, under controlled-dose conditions, by each nozzle by virtue of the action of pulsed jets of compressed air which are distributed according to a suitable program by means of a solenoid valve. <IMAGE>
