PURPOSE:To send a simple memorandum to the opposite party in place of a telephone call by using a signal channel if the opposite party is busy or absent in making a call to the said party so as to give data information between users. CONSTITUTION:If a telephone set 22 makes a phone call to a telephone set 20 while the telephone set 20 and a telephone set 21 are talking, a busy tone is sent to the telephone set 22 through an information channel and listened to by the operator C. When the operator C uses a transmission message in place of the phone call, a memory transmission/readout key 11 is depressed. Thus, the selected message is given to a data area between users in a transmission message memory 6 via a control circuit 12, sent to the telephone set 20 by using a signal channel and stored in a reception message memory 15 and then displayed on a display device 7. That is, in making a call, if the opposite party is busy or absent, the signal channel is used to send a simple memorandum to the opposite party as the data information between users in place of a telephone call.
