PURPOSE:To bond two glass tubes in parallel at the side parts through a communicating hole at low cost without requiring another connecting pipe, by protruding the side parts of the glass tubes into a desired shape by molding members, opening the protruded parts and fusing the two glass tubes. CONSTITUTION:A glass tube 1 is chucked at the bending side by a grasping tool 20, fixed to an operation stand and an insertion rod 11 is fully inserted into the glass tube until the tube end is struck to a mold 13. A position of the side to be opened is pressed from the inside by a molding member 10 in the glass tube 1. A burner 30 is set below the tube and the position of the side to be pressed by the molding member 10 is heated from the outside. The softened side is protruded by pressing force by the molding member 10 to form a projected ring-shaped part 3. The tip of a tungsten rod 31 having several mm diameter is made into a red hot state by a burner 32 and thrust into the projected part to open a small hole. When the glass tube 1 is positioned perpendicularly to the burner 32 and the top face is heated to give an opening having the same diameter as the inner diameter of the projected ring-shaped part 3. Similarly an opening is bored through through a glass tube 2, both the projected ring-shaped parts 3 are brought face to face each other and fused.
