PURPOSE:To simplify the coating operation of a protective layer and to enhance the durability of a photosensitive body through the action of the protective layer by forming the protective layer containing a resin having acid groups on an electric charge transfer layer containing a charge transfer material. CONSTITUTION:The protective layer 4 of simple structure containing the resin having the acid groups is formed on the charge transfer layer 3 of the organic electrophotographic sensitive body provided with a charge generating layer 2 and the layer 3 on a substrate 1. The protective layer 4 is formed by dissolving the resin having the acid groups, when needed, together with other resins, a powder, and additives in a proper solvent, and coating the layer 3 with this coating solution. The acid groups in the layer 4 acts as an electron receptor, and forms a charge transfer complex with the charge transfer material acting as an electron donor, thus per-mitting the volume resistivity of the resin to be reduced, residual charge not to accumulate in the layer 4, and the electric characteristics of the photosensitive body not to change. |
