<p>PURPOSE:To improve the yield of a molten steel in steel making with an arc furnace by blowing an inert gas under specific conditions into the molten steel. CONSTITUTION:The inert gas is blown at 2.1-21l/min per ton of the molten steel into the molten steel heated by an arc in steel making with the arc furnace. The blowing is preferably executed by a method of providing the tuyere to be exclusively used for the blowing at the furnace bottom and blowing the gas through said tuyere. The effect of stirring the molten steel is improved if the blowing position is determined at nearly the center of the furnace bottom. Slag is stirred as well together with the molten steel and the effect of heat transfer is improved by the above-mentioned method.</p> |
